“Riling Up the Crazies.”

Donald_Trump_by_Gage_Skidmore

John McCain knows his party pretty well.

In response to Donald Trump’s Mexican trash talk, the Times reports that McCain said, “Trump is riling up the crazies.”

Yesterday, at a Republican political forum, Trump replied:

“He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

McCain and Nixon

McCain and Nixon

Only Mexican rapists don’t know that John McCain was an aviator shot down during the Vietnam war.

He was a POW for over five years who was tortured and who refused early release.

Cruz Both Ways

Candidate Ted Cruz, an IAFF Legislative Conference speaker who dined with IAFF General-President  Harold Schaitberger in what he described as an epic dinner, said in the Times, “McCain is “an American hero,” but added that he would not “say something bad about Donald Trump.”

Really?

That’s hardly an example of decisive and principled leadership.

Between the two there may be an emerging ticket.

The Don and Ted show.

An Attack on One

Flag Burning

Meanwhile, Trump leads the Republican pack with eighteen percent.

And, at least some of the crazies refuse to condemn Trump’s McCain attacks saying, “It was not important to me.”

Not important?

In 1949 when NATO was formed to protect Europe and the world from communist aggression, the treaty was described as “an attack on one is an attack on all.”

And, so it is now.

Trump’s slurs demean the integrity of all armed forces members past, present and future.

It’s nothing less than a verbal “torching of the flag” and up in the polls he’ll go.

Tell me again about those patriotic and uniquely American values of yours?
