IAFF: If the Corruption Crisis Were a Working Fire

The DVPs and staff would be the engine crew and Harold would be the (not so) steadfast incident commander.
You see, it’s his first real fire and the team pulled a booster line when a 2 1/2 is called for.
In fact, one attack line clearly won’t do the job.
Let’s hope everyone has their hood and collar up because it’s going to be a hot one.
The  “stop the leak” strategy of threatened prosecution is about as effective as a triple kinked line, too little and too late.
Two facts now seem baldly evident: reams of incriminating information are outside the IAFF and that information is in the hands of seasoned reporters and others.
The information proves that for some at the top, the IAFF has been run as a piggy bank to fund an extravagant lifestyle complete with hundreds of thousands of dollars in expensive meals and liquor and first class travel, including limousines.
Others have taken travel per diems dishonestly which threaten the tax exempt status of the IAFF.
And, they continued to do it when they knew it was wrong.
Who will pick up the pieces when the hammer falls on the piggy bank?
Perhaps of more direct and personal interest, does anyone really think that “Chief” Schaitberger will pull the troops out before the flashover occurs?
We know the answer to that question.
A final question:  who wants to be able to look back in 2016 or 2020 and say they did the right thing?
If you say you did, you better be truthful because some will know if you are not.
There should be a price to be paid for those in positions of authority who are either coasting, have their head buried firmly in the sand, or worst of all, are abetting common thieves.

Send some version of the sentence below, even a cut and paste, to the address just beneath it.

“I am a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters and I am requesting that the US DOL immediately begin to investigate allegations of corruption including illegal compensation and reckless and destructive spending by International Officers.  Thank you.”
