IAFF Dead in the Water
Anyone who has known Harold Schaitberger, Our Dear Leader, over the years knows well of his all-consuming devotion, lust really, to be involved in US presidential electioneering.
He begins by wining and dining every prospective nominee, chatting them up at the Prime Rib or the Capital Grille.
A “lucky” few will be invited to speak at the IAFF Legislative Conference and no doubt go to dinner again, an idea they may not look forward to as much after the first 4-hour wine-a-thon which likely resulted in (at least) a headache as well as an aching ass.
He flirts with presumptive candidates to bask in their new found power and exposure like a junior varsity football player nosing around prom queen wannabees.
2008 Again, Sort Of
Schaitberger acted nearly as bizarrely in 2008 when the knee-grow Obama was a candidate.
He almost single-handedly recruited Chris Dodd, the very whitest of white guys to enter the race giving both himself and Dodd a nice ego boost while it allowed him to not have to cozy up to a knee-grow when it would have mattered.
Dodd fell flat on his face, the knee-grow was elected, Schaitberger was safe with his members and the IAFF was dog meat to the new administration.
Fast forward eight years: unable to recruit a safe candidate, he dumps the notorious emailer HRC and runs for cover with the latest excuse of “We are waiting to see who the VPs will be.”
You Must Be Kidding
The guy who runs the Korean market near my house loves to razz me over the election, saying every time I enter, “How’s you boy doing?” suggesting that I am a Trumpist.
(By the way, aren’t all markets Korean?)
We banter on, hurling mostly polite insults for a bit, before I buy the most expensive half-gallon of milk in DC.
This time I asked him about VP picks and he said, “Who gives a shit?”
Now, I ask you, if my esteemed first-generation Korean grocer friend has figured out that VP choices mean absolutely nothing, how can it be that Harold Schaitberger thinks it matters?
It Doesn’t and He Knows It
It’s the most lame-ass excuse for dithering you will ever hear.
When it comes to tough choices, especially political ones, he is a coward.
Instead of making a decision or at least engaging in some straight talk, he comes up with bullshit excuses like the VP decision as a rationale for sitting on his hands.
All you die hard Our Dear Leader followers, that’s what he thinks of you really: he feeds you BS and you buy it.
My Korean grocer is way smarter than you folks.
Do the Right Thing, at Least
Robert Draper, writing in the NYT magazine, says Donald Trump, “has made a seemingly endless series of statements offensive to Hispanics, Jews, blacks and women.”
Even stalwart Republican leaders such as Senator Lindsey Graham and Ben Sasse have spoken out against Trump’s bigoted behavior.
Graham said Trump is a, “race-baiting, xenphobic, religious bigot, and a jackass.”
Sasse says Trump’s comments “are the literal definition of racism.”
If conservative Republicans have the courage to call out Trump as a bigot, why doesn’t Harold Schaitberger, a man who says be believes in equity and fairness for all members of the IAFF?
Because, very simply, he is the ultimate “empty suit”, a coward who is intent on protecting his cushy job at the expense of standing up for what is right for the IAFF.
His “wait on the VP” riff and overall silence on Trump the bigot is all the proof we need.
