In effect they would comfortably vote for a black man, often twice, but not a woman, or at least not that woman.
Perhaps they saw something very compelling in Trump the person.
That would make the flip even more odd as where personality is concerned, Trump is the anti-Obama in every way.
And, voters expressed the notion that governing experience is not necessary to be president.
The flip is especially odd where key positions are concerned though it deserves to be emphasized that over time Trump has been on all sides of social, economic and foreign policy issues.
Trump was richly and paternally begotten and yet has been embraced by those who see themselves as regular Joes’ cheated out of their share of American prosperity; he inherited his.
It’s an acknowledged fact that Trump as a business operator regularly fails to pay sub-contractors and workers and has a hair trigger where suing is concerned.
Stiffing and suing the “little guy” is the proven mark of a bully.

Trump has repeatedly walked away from his colossal business failures managing to enrich himself fantastically through bankruptcy proceedings and loss-taking.
Can a US president fail but deflect not just responsibility but also the tangible effect of that failure?
Is there a bankruptcy court for presidential failures?
If religious piety requires reflection than Trump is the least pious person around as he admits his disdain for personal reflection, a dangerous trait for any president to embrace.
Self reflection is the path to personal wisdom unless, of course, you see yourself as perfectly wise, the likely circumstance of a confirmed narcissist.
All we really know about Trump the president today is what we don’t know and that is everything.
Trump is a clever chameleon with a whole new group of stockholders.
His new company, aka the United States of America, thrives on stability, cooperation and an ever burgeoning sense of liberality.
