Shady Schait’s Uphill Battle

Conspiracy?

Former IAFF chief of staff Pete Gorman alleges in court documents that Harold Schaitberger, General President of the IAFF, retaliated against him “deliberately, with malice, with intent to injure, and in reckless disregard for Mr. Gorman’s rights.”

Gorman also alleges that “Schaitberger began orchestrating the termination of his employment and enlisted other senior staff to assist in the effort.”

There are many people who would be far less than surprised to hear that Harold Schaitberger was tuning up his musicians behind the scenes.

The least surprised would be the mincing and do-nothing sycophants otherwise known as the IAFF executive board.

After hounding the late Vincent Bollon to retire as General Secretary-Treasurer, Schaitberger slunk around North America lining up the votes for his hand picked successor for the job.

Bollon: Hounded

Bollon: Hounded

Majority in hand, he lowered the boom, alienating other board members in the process, Danny Todd being the best example.

Todd: Watch out for the boom.

Todd: Watch out for the boom.

In fact, for Schaitberger, the boom lowering would be as satisfying as the win as it’s an opportunity to humiliate your opponent.

Need more proof?

He did the same thing to Darren Bates, complete with the humiliation.

For Schaitberger it wasn’t enough to fire Bates after his false arrest, he then enlisted IAFF senior staff to leak the firing to the press to both ruin and humiliate Bates.

He did it to feel good, a clear cut example of an evil personality.

Schaitberger’s view of his management staff is simple:  if he pays you he owns you.

The expectation is that he is free to abuse and humiliate you, even publicly, if it either burnishes his self-image or tyrannical ego.

Would they line up to smear Pete Gorman?

Ask Darren Bates.

The premise that Schaitberger would orchestrate and engage staff in his aid to both humiliate and destroy is a fact with a historical basis.

The only questions are did they do it in this instance and would they tell the truth under oath?

It’s one thing to shade the truth for “the Boss” and quite another to go to jail, especially for someone who would dump you at the first opportunity.
