If True?
I’m all about giving the benefit of the doubt but these folks who still qualify their concern by saying “If True” regarding the great IAFF/MDA rip-off are pretty amazing.
Here’s why.
No one, to my knowledge, has ever denied that the IAFF received $1,400,000 from MDA in 2015.
Even an MDA coordinator confirmed it, in writing.
Then, IAFF Local 457 did the tedious work of proving that the notion that the $1.4 million dollar payment is about expense recovery is pure bullshit.
In fact, Convention Resolution 33 contains the exact numbers proving it.
Faced with the obvious, Schaitberger did what dictators do.
Rather than get into a discussion of the facts or the merits, he arranged to have the resolution simply killed off by his willing henchman.
The Comments
Timothy McShes writes, “If true, an absolute disgrace. Local 22 has collected on duty since MDA expanded from Boston over 50 years ago. Not 1 dollar ever went to administrative fees. Everything was handled in house by MDA and the local. How can the IAFF take a piece of that.
I’d be completely disgusted if these reports are true, having been on the MDA committee for 13 of the last 15 years.
Joe Blow writes, “Harold is stealing the money, but those that allow it are accomplices. If there is a criminal investigation, all of those involved could be culpable. Something to ponder before bobbling your head.”
PJ Knowles, writes, “Shame on the majority who are cowards and lemmings and our illustrious leader who towers over them. Mark Johnson posed the question and the “bobble heads” shot him and those of us who questioned this dishonorable practice down. I will be conferring with our local on how to work around this dirty method of taking from the MDA when our firefighters are the ones working the streets for 12 hours straight for the benefit of the MDA. This is disgraceful.
