Even if the total amount of expenditures from MDA non per capita tax revenue does go to legitimate MDA administrative expenses, which Is highly unlikely, that arrangement still begs the question of how the other $695,001 is spent.
This is our budget and we have a right to see how that money is spent. This question is a legitimate question. It is not an attack on anyone.
I am a 32 year member of the IAFF. Our Local is in the top 5 locals of our category in the entire IAFF in giving real dollars to Fire Pac. For many years I have given $100.00/month to Fire Pac. I have been a union officer in my Local for over 25 years. I am a loyal member of this Union. We can have honest disagreements about policy. It is not legitimate to impugn the motives of of a brother or sister over legitimate policy issues on the floor at convention.
I have been coming to Convention for over 20 years and have never seen the resolve(s) of a resolution not read by a committee chair or vice-chair and not projected on the screen for the delegates to plainly see until this MDA resolution was not read or projected at this convention.
Our members, the public, and everyone who is assisted by the MDA deserves to know how the IAFF is spending money it receives from the MDA, period.
